What Does It Mean to Praise?
‘Laud’ means to loudly proclaim or declare. Be ‘vocal’ – using the words of your mouth.
Hebrews 13:15 “By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.”
As we offer the sacrifice of praise (which under this covenant is the sacrifice that God requires), giving thanks unto His name for what He has done for us, we are offering the fruit of our lips.
John 15:8 tells us “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
Our Father is glorified as we, His disciples, bear much fruit. The more we praise, the more fruit we bear. Little praise = little fruit. No praise = no fruit. Much Praise = Much Fruit.
Job 6:25 “How forcible are right words! But what doth your arguing reprove?”
Forcible means powerful. Words of praise are right and powerful in the realm of the Spirit.
Ecclesiastes 8:4 explains: “ Where the word of a King is, there is power.”
As we praise using the Word of God, King of all kings, we release the greatest power.
Psalm 92:14 “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age: they shall be fat and flourishing”
