What Are You Looking At?

Dear Partner, Friends & Family,

"If you can look up, you can get up!"  Eric Thomas

Hebrews 12:2 says, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Once again, I want to challenge you with the above thought "What Are You Looking At?"

As this year draws to a close, I want to encourage every one of you to look up, and as I shared in my blog two weeks ago, it is important what we are focusing our main attention upon.  Are you looking at the circumstances that surround you and our world today?  Or are you, as the scripture above says, "Looking unto Jesus."

This year has been a very difficult and trying year, even heartbreaking for many.  During the course of the year, the nations have been affected by plagues, pestilences and other natural disasters.  The world's economy has been shaken; many businesses and families have been affected in many adverse ways.  Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, but for many, it can also be a very lonely time.  There are people around us and in our communities that feel alone and vulnerable at Christmas.  It can also cause additional financial stress on families.  People in casual work or different industries, don't have as much work around Christmas time due to the holiday season.

We the church have the Answer and His name is Jesus!  I encourage you to look unto Jesus!  He is the joy giver and need meeter.  In Philippians 4:19 it says, " And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."  In Psalm 23, we learn that the Lord is our Shepard, we shall not want or lack any good thing.  There are far more important things than money.  However, money is important because we use it to purchase food and other necessities for life.  It is great to give presents, but we shouldn't feel under pressure or put ourselves into more credit card debt, in order to hand out many presents.

Not only must we keep our eyes on Jesus, but I dare you to encourage everyone around you to look up and keep their eyes on Jesus as well.  He is the great prize!  He is the reason for the season.

This season is all about love.  How much God loves you and cares about you.  I dare you to be "other-minded", as John Maxwell would say in his writings.  Let's be very aware of other people around us, family and friends. Plus other people in the community at large, that God may bring across our paths.  People have had a difficult and trying year.  Let us be Jesus to them!  Let us be an extension of His love and grace.  Let us be a word in season or encouragement to their life.

When we look at the answer, rather than the problem; when we look at Jesus and praise Him, we change our focus.  We are now focusing on the Answer, the almighty God.  He is more than enough.  He can fill us with hope, joy and provide for us and there is always more leftover.  He causes our cups to overflow.

As we run into Christmas, I dare you to look unto Jesus, be encouraged and then become an encourager.  We can make a difference by being the difference.  Jesus is the difference factor in our life.  As we look to Him, He will become the difference-maker in our circumstances.  Your best is yet to come!  Your best is still to come!  Your best days are before you and not behind you!

I dare you to believe this!  I dare you to decree this!  I pray, in Jesus name, that you will receive that which you believe and decree.

This new kingdom that is in us is a spiritual kingdom.  Luke 17:21b says, "for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you".

Just because salvation is basically a spiritual rebirth does not mean that it has no effect on our bodies, minds, or everyday living.  It can and should have a great impact on every part of our lives.

In every age and culture, there are certain rules and laws that govern the actions of the inhabitants of that area.  It is the same in spiritual life.  There are laws for those in Satan’s kingdom, and there are laws for those in God’s kingdom.  The new birth gives us a new law. “FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS hath made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2).

The law of life includes love, joy, peace, happiness, prosperity, abundance, health, contentment, and blessings.  These provisions are made for the Christian in the New Covenant.   We must enforce them in our lives.  As we enforce them, God will back us.  He always enforces His Word, which is true and never changes.  His Word is law and forever settled in heaven.

I pray that this word is an encouragement and a blessing to your life.  Keep looking up and have a great week!

God bless and much love,

Ps. Shaun Marler
