He Died to Give You Life

Dear Partners, family and friends,

It wasn't the nails that held Jesus to the cross. It was his love for you. - Dr. Shaun Marler

If a person you know was to lay down their life and die, so you could be saved, would you say that person loves you?

If a person who you don’t know, was to give up their only son to die for you, to save you.  Would you call that love?

God has done that for you!

In a true act of love, God the Father sent His only Son, Jesus, into the world. Jesus came to save this world (us) from our sins, so that we could receive the greatest gift of love, ever given.

Sin and unbelief has separated us from God and has stopped us from experiencing & enjoying this great love.

But God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world, through Jesus, should be saved.

God’s love was demonstrated by giving Christ His Son, to die on the cross of Calvary, so we all can live forever. All we have to do is receive Him into our life as our personal Lord and Saviour.

It cost God everything to redeem us!  Recently, I was watching a documentary on Roman crucifixion.  The narrator said that Roman crucifixion was the cruellest, most brutal, most humiliating, most excruciating and painful punishment ever dreamed up to put someone to death.  He said there is no more painful and tormenting way to execute a person then by crucifixion.  In preparation for the crucifixion, the person to be crucified was whipped with a cat o' nine tails (a leather whip embedded with sharp stone/pottery to tare open and shred the skin and muscle).  Following this beating, the person was led away naked to be hung, nailed on a cross and crucified until they died.

We know from the word of God, that 1 Peter 2:24 says, "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed."

2 Corinthians 8:9 says, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."

I encourage you this Easter (Passover), to break bread with fellow believers and remember and thank God for His great kindness and love that He has bestowed on every one of us.  Jesus, because of God’s great love for all people, gave His life willingly, so you may enjoy the riches of His love, both now and for all eternity.

Through Jesus Christ, we have and can celebrate together, the Abrahamic Blessing.

Galatians 3:29 says, "And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Have a great Passover, as you remember and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!

God bless and much love,

Ps. Shaun Marler
