Keep Up the Praise & Prayer!
Keep Up the Praise & Prayer!
Dear Partners, Friends & Family,
"Let the peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him." Psalm 67:5-7
As I sought the Lord on what to share with you this week the above scripture came to my attention. As I read it, I thought about prayer. If there ever was a time when the people of God need to keep praying, it is the days we are now living in. Even as I write to you today, a notification has come on my phone that Israel has just attacked with air strikes Iran's nuclear sites. I am sure that as the day progresses news outlets will keep us informed as to what is unfolding in our world.
These world events have been prophesied in the Bible thousands of years ago as to what will come to pass in the last days. We as God's people must keep praying for peace on earth, taking authority over the forces of darkness that are out to destroy world peace. We are commanded by God to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, to pray for peace in the nations and to pray for the leaders of the nations and all those that are in authority.
"Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." 1 Timothy 2:1-6
The Bible also warns, in 2 Timothy 3:1, that in the last days perilous times will come.
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come."
As we look at world events in the light of God's Word, it is easy to see that we are living in what the Bible describes as the last days. It is absolutely imperative that we, as the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, exercise our authority and pray and speak peace into any and all conflicts as they arise. However, it is also imperative that we praise God. The Bible teaches us that God inhabits the praises of His people.
Intercession and prayer alone without praise and thanksgiving can become very tiring and one can get spiritually exhausted and physically drained if we don't add praise to our prayers. Praise combined with prayer becomes like two wings of an eagle with which we can mount up into the Heavenlies and know that we have the victory in Jesus.
The Bible tells us praise arrests with force the enemy and the avenger that comes to attack, weary you, and bring you down. Praise joined together with continued heart felt prayers of faith makes great power available which is released into circumstances and situations as we pray into them and speak the Name of Jesus. We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. JAMES 5:16
As we have seen in the above scriptures, God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. In my last post, I spoke about the great end time harvest. In our foundation scripture today, God promises that the earth will yield it's increase and He will bless us when and as we praise Him. I encourage you to read Psalm 67 and pray it out loud before God and praise God for His goodness and His wonderful works towards the children of men. Remember, God loves you and your family and He desires to see your family saved and blessed even more than you do.
Last Thursday night I spoke at the outreach free feeding program in Caboolture. By God's goodness and grace 4 people responded to the salvation call as I shared the gospel of Jesus.
While there, I noticed that the temperature dropped quite significantly and it was a very cold night. I determined to go and share this with our iHarvest Church Family on Sunday and we raised an offering to purchase blankets for the homeless and those living in tents, cars or on the streets.
Praise God, because of the generosity of the people we were able to purchase dozens of new blankets from various department stores to the point that my car was filled to the roof with new blankets and last night again at Caboolture, we distributed a free blanket or two, to every person present that wanted one.
This week coming, I am speaking at the Redcliffe King's Kitchen Outreach to families doing it tough and the homeless community and we will again give everyone a free blanket or two, to help them through these cold winter days and nights.
If you would like to sow an offering to buy blankets, food or pillows or a general donation into helping us bless and care for these people in practical ways, while also sharing the love of Jesus with them you can do so by giving through the details below and referencing 'Harvest Food Assist'.
