Faith is Not a Feeling

Sometimes people base their spiritual experiences on feelings and emotions.  Problems arise when feelings and emotions change. If they have not been grounded in the Word of God, doubt will arise as to whether or not the experience was genuine.  For faith to be consistent, it must be based on something with more stability than our feelings.

No person is saved because he feels saved.  He is saved because he has put on his faith in God’s Word and acted on it.  He may feel great today, tired tomorrow, and lonely next week, but Hallelujah! God’s Word is going to say the same thing yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Feelings are influenced by what we see, what we read, and what we hear.  Everyone is exposed to things that are not consistent with God’s Word.  If these things control our feeling and our feelings control our faith, we can be Christians yet controlled by Satan’s devices.

Our faith must be controlled by God’s Word, not by what we feel, not by what circumstances look like, and not by what others tell us.  “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).  Our eyes, ears, heart, and mouth should be tuned to God’s Word.

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).

God’s Word is eternal.  Our spiritual eyes must be focused on God (Who is unseen) by looking at His Word.

Faith is Available to Everyone

I dare you to study God’s Word to find precious promises and blessings He has for you, and then reach out and receive them into your life by faith. Claim them by faith as your very own and praise and thank God for them. (Mark 11:22, 23 and 24).

As Dr King said, "Faith is taking the first step."  I encourage you today, to step out into the wonderful future and blessings God has planned for your life.  God's word is true, and His promises sure.

Honour your man of God

“Render to all men their dues. [Pay] taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, and honor to whom honor is due.” Romans 13:7 (AMP) The word honour means: to respect, to revere, to treat with deference and submission and perform relevant duties to. Honouring your man of God is vital in the life of every born-again believer. Even as a Senior Pastor, it is a privilege for me to honour the men of God that I consider my spiritual fathers and mentors. They are life coaches to me on my spiritual journey to success, shining examples of excellence in ministry, men to whom I look for advice, prayer, guidance and leadership. THE LAW OF REPETITION

What you hear repeatedly, you will eventually believe. Repetition, our school teachers know this basic law of learning. That’s why when we were at school, we learned many things in our early years by repetition. Someone once said, “You must hear something at least 16 times, before you eventually believe it”. Television commercials are repeated over and over. These are backed up by newspaper, magazine, internet and billboard advertisements. The marketers know we must continually hear and see something before we respond to it.  Romans 10:17 says “ So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God ”.  It simply takes time to absorb a message.
